We are excited to host you! We have tried to answer the most common questions here, but if you have anything else that comes up, please don’t hesitate to reach out via the platform that you booked on.

What supplies are provided?2023-10-16T00:52:56+00:00

We strive to make our cabin feel like your home away from home. To ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay, we provide a starter set of essential supplies. However, for any additional or specific items you might require, such as extra trash bags, laundry pods, or dishwasher pods, we recommend bringing them with you. If you happen to run out or need something unexpected, Old Dad’s General Store is conveniently located just at the bottom of the hill and stocks a wide range of supplies.

Can you walk to Gatlinburg?2023-01-08T13:53:32+00:00

Yes! My mother (active 74 yo) and my 2 girls (8 & 10) have all walked to Gatlinburg, and on to the National Park Welcome Center (2.5 miles one way) with no problems. However, the road to the cabin is short, but steep. If you wouldn’t climb up 4 flights of stairs, then you might not want to make the steep walk up to the cabin.

The Overlook has an ideal location – 1/2 mile to the Parkway (at the Nantahala Outdoor Center)

  • 0.7 Miles to the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (avoiding Gatlinburg Traffic)
  • 1 Mile to the Gatlinburg Skylift Park and Space Needle
  • 2.5 Miles to the National Park Welcome Center
  • 6 Miles to Rocky Top Sports World (15 min drive)
  • 7.4 Miles to the Dolly Parton Stampede in Pigeon Forge (17 min drive)
  • 9.5 Miles to the Island in Pigeon Forge (20 min drive)
  • 10 Miles to Dollywood (22 min drive)

Indoor Fireplace2023-10-16T00:50:00+00:00

Main floor living room has a gas fireplace. It has a wall mounted timer on the left; it automatically turns on when you start it (after a 20 second delay), to turn it off manually, just dial it back to zero.

Please make sure the fireplace is off when leaving the cabin!
